The MRC La Côte-de-Gaspé has a readily available bilingual workforce.
The MRC has undergone important changes these past few years. Traditional sectors are adapting to new realities, causing the closing of many enterprises and generating the subsequent availability of a significant number of workers. This workforce is known for being hardworking and faithful to its employers.
The MRC benefits from an important bilingual population. The proportion of individuals speaking both English and French is superior to the corresponding proportion elsewhere in the region.
A number of initiatives have been established in recent years to ensure the return of young adults. The Youth Portal (www.portailjeunesse.ca) is a good example of a project which has constituted a bank of more than 400 young educated professionals wishing to find work in the region.
Also noteworthy is the presence of educational institutions offering specialized instruction destined to fulfill the needs of the MRC’s employers. The Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles and the Groupe Collégia offer courses adapted to employer’s needs and corresponding to the new realities of the marketplace. |
